It is less complicated for men to have a healthy sexual life than it is for women. If a man is shown a particular image, it will trigger a response if the brain and nervous system are functioning properly to produce nitric oxygen. While it’s important to not discount the importance of the mental, emotional and spiritual components, the most significant impact on a man’s sexual health is the physical. This article will concentrate on the physical aspect of men’s sexual health. These suggestions can have a positive impact on your overall health and how you age.

Two issues remained constant in all of the information I collected to prepare this article. These two issues related to health were always present. The first concern hormone levels. The second is cardiovascular disease. While most men understand the implications of hormones, few people consider cardiovascular health.

Cardiovascular Health!

Your cardiovascular health is just as important for your sexual health and overall health. This is due to the health of your blood vessels and endothelial cell health. These endothelial cells are responsible for the creation of nitric oxygen. Researchers believe that nitric dioxide can correct as much as 90% of all penile dysfunction. High blood pressure, high sugar levels and cholesterol can damage endothelial cells, which in turn decreases nitric dioxide production. The health and sexual well-being of men depends on the quality of their endothelial cells.

Hormone Levels!

Sex, at its most basic level, is a hormone-driven function that perpetuates the species. The sexual health of American men has been in decline for some time. Over the past 20 years, testosterone levels have been declining. Testosterone, the primary male sexhormone, has been declining over the past 20 years. It is important in maintaining bone mass and muscle mass. Studies have linked low testosterone levels to lower libido, and even diabetes. Lower testosterone levels can be exacerbated by diabetes, which can cause damage to the blood vessels’ endothelial cells.

The testosterone level in American males has declined by 16 percent over the past 20 years. Researchers aren’t sure why. There are clues. A recent Nurses’ Health Survey revealed some important truths that can be applied to women. These truths are also applicable to men’s sexual health, as they have an impact on both their hormonal and cardiovascular health.

Also, testosterone levels have dropped which has led to a decrease in muscle mass, tone, energy, and metabolism, and an increase in body weight. This is not a very attractive combination. Accept it and not do anything about it. You can choose to make healthier choices in your eating and exercise. You can make choices that will allow your body to be healthier than you were at birth.

You have control over the process!

Each day, you replace about 1% of your cells. This means that approximately 1% of your body’s cells are new every day, while 1% is still new tomorrow. These new cells can be nurtured well or poorly by you. You can choose to have young, healthy cells. Or you can have sickly, sedentary cells who act old.

Your choices will affect the sexual health of your body. It’s what I call “The 1% Solution!” It will positively impact your cardiovascular and sexual health.

Chooses that Impact Sexual Health

Five key lifestyle and diet habits were highlighted by the Nurses’ Health Survey. These are:

Carbohydrates: Slow vs. Fast

  • Fats – Natural verses Artificial!
  • Protein – Animal or Plant!
  • Your Body Weight – Your BMI

Exercise is Important?

This list reveals three key components: Exercise, Diet, and Weight. You might assume that this applies only to women. This is not true! These factors can have an impact on your cardiovascular health as well as your hormonal balance. Each of these factors can also impact the health of your endothelial cell health and ability to produce Nitric Ox. The most important factor in determining the health and sexual well-being of men is nitric oxide production. Let’s examine how these factors affect your sexual health.

The Diet Component!

What you eat and drink will determine how healthy you are. Your food and drink choices will have a significant impact on your sexual health and cardiovascular health. Your health and age will be affected by your choices.

The first area to focus on is carbohydrates. Do you choose foods and drinks high in simple sugars (fast carbs)? You need to know that you can’t eat fast carbs (simple sugars): Fast carbs disrupt hormone levels.

Fast carbohydrates can cause high blood sugar levels that could lead to diabetes.

High blood sugar can cause damage to the endothelial cells in your blood vessels, reducing the production nitric oxygen which is vital for good sexual health and cardiovascular health.

Slow carbs (complex carbs) are foods high in complex carbohydrates. Slow carbs can help maintain normal blood sugar levels and balance your hormone levels. Water is better than sugary drinks or diet sodas. Water is good for your body, balances hormones, and helps with weight management.

The second option is fats. You should eliminate all trans fats and replace them by natural, healthy fats. Trans fats can disrupt fertility in women, as demonstrated by the Nurses’ Health study. Their hormonal balance was disrupted by as little as four grams trans fat, which is equivalent to two tablespoons of stick butter, one medium order French fries, or one doughnut.

How much of your diet is made up of trans fats from fast-food restaurants? What number of orders of French fries or doughnuts have your employees consumed? While I don’t have any data on men, it is clear that trans fats can affect us as much as we are affected by them. Essential fats balance hormones and promote healthy cell function. It is time to eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acid (such as flax seeds, walnuts, and wild cold-water fish)

The third option is protein. The Nurses’ Health Study found that women who eat more plant-based protein than they do from animals had a greater chance of achieving better fertility. Your sexual health can be negatively affected by animal protein. It can also have a direct impact on cancer.

If you don’t want to give up meat, pork, or chicken, then it is worth the effort and cost to ensure that these protein sources are free of hormones. This is also true for dairy products. Many people still rely on hormone injections to increase their food production. These hormone-inducing injections can affect your hormonal levels if you eat meat from these animals or their byproducts. You should not eat meat from these animals or their byproducts if you don’t want to change to plant-based proteins.

The Weight Component

Weight can have a significant impact on your sexual health. Why? Because fat can disrupt your hormone balance! Your cardiovascular system is also stressed by fat. Your body’s sexual health will be affected by this additional stress. At the moment, 66% of Americans have excess weight. The answer is not in diets. America has been eating poorly for 50 years. It has not had any real effect on slowing down obesity and overweight rates.

It is time to shift your paradigm from “dieting” towards “healthy eating.” You need to make food choices that will benefit your health and wellbeing, not your weight. People who do this tend to see a decrease in their weight.

The Exercise Component

Both your sexual and cardiovascular health are important. Inactivity reduces your body’s ability to respond insulin and decreases your ability to absorb blood sugar. The Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality found that regular exercise is better for your health.

  • Feel better about yourself
  • They are considered more desirable sexually

Feel more satisfied

Before you begin any exercise program, it is important to consult your doctor or other health care provider. After you’ve received their approval, aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes per day. Walking, biking, swimming, and jogging are all good options to improve circulation. Strength training is also important. Strength training exercises can help you maintain bone density and health. Strength training exercises can also improve your spatial awareness. This positive feeling will improve your overall well-being.

The Nitric Oxide Component

Nitric oxide is essential for your health. Without nitric dioxide, your cardiovascular system would not work properly. Your body’s sexual health is dependent on the production of Nitric oxide. The health of your blood vessels and the availability of L-arginine, an essential amino acid, is key to the production of nitric oxide.

Your endothelial cells are negatively affected by high blood pressure, high levels of sugar, high cholesterol, and smoking. These endothelial cells can be damaged, which will decrease nitric oxide production. This can reduce the blood flow to the sexual organ, resulting in decreased sensitivity and/or erectile dysfunction.

Nitric oxide is made from L-arginine which is an essential amino acid. Your diet should include protein sources and/or supplements containing this amino acid. L-arginine, which is not a hormone, is not the same as testosterone. L-arginine can be introduced to the body and cross the blood-brain border to signal the hypothalamus, which will naturally trigger the pituitary to make growth hormone. This is how hormone supplements such as DHEA or HGH can be eliminated from any side effects.

Please be aware that L-arginine can have a dark side effect and cause serious side effects. My article “L-arginine and Nitric Oxide: Sexual Health” is available. For more information about this essential amino acid, click here.

Conclusion!

You will be part of the new reality if you continue to live a life that includes increased levels of body fat, inactivity, high intakes of animal protein, sugary drinks, refined grains, and low levels of nitric oxide production. This new reality will include an epidemic increase in diabetes, high levels of stroke and cardiovascular disease, high levels of cancer, poor sexual health, especially for people over 40. Aristotle stated, “We are what we repeatedly do!”

Positive changes in your sexual health can be achieved by improving your diet, managing your weight, exercising properly, and increasing your body’s ability produce nitric oxygen. These positive steps will help you improve your health and slow down the aging process.

Although hormonal balances between men and women may be different, the process for changing is the same. Many of the same steps that can improve men’s sexual health will also work for women. Encourage your partner or spouse to make these changes together. You will both reap the rewards of taking steps to improve your health and living a full life.
